I read this today and it caught my eye...

"If your congregation sings only Hillsong choruses, then their emotional repertoire will be limited to about two different feelings (God-you-make-me-happy, and God-I'm-infatuated-with-you) – considerably less even than the emotional range of a normal adult person. It is why entire congregations sometimes seem strangely adolescent, or even infantile: they lack a proper emotional range, as well as a suitable adult vocabulary. But in the psalter one finds the entire range of human emotion and experience – a range that is vastly wider than the emotional capacity of any single human life."

In the midst of finishing school, praying about future plans, and working at Copmass, I still spend about half my week with Passion Outreach! So far, this semseter we have focused our weekly lessons on three main topics:

1) Hopes and Dreams... What are the girls' hopes and dreams? One week we created wooden boards-- with barriers to our dreams on one side, and hopes and goals for ourselves on the other.  Then, we karate chopped our way through the boards, a.k.a., the barriers! It was a powerful experience for the girls and for the mentors! Check out a video of my turn above.

2)  Love and Sexuality... We've talked a LOT about how to have appropriate boundaries with men. This has brought up how these girls have been wounded and used in the past. We've also explored their love languages and helped them see God's heart for sexual wholeness.

3) Overcoming Loss, Anger, and Fear... At Passion Outreach, we end up talking about death a lot. The girls regularly wrestle with the loss of family members and some have actually seen friends and family die before their very own eyes. The wounds from these experiences are powerful, but we are hopeful that as the girls open up, avenues of healing are being found.

Resolutions

Happy New Year!

Well, Happy February at the very least. Yes, I'm sure you're thinking, "How can she see through all those cobwebs on her blog to even type a new post??" Sorry for the pro-longed absence. I've missed writing you you. I hope you have missed me as well. I wanted to post my latest newsletter on here for those of you whose email or home address still escapes my little, grubby hands. ;)

This will catch you up from last year til now, and hopefully I will do a better job at blogging this year. But I'm making no commitments, aloud. After all, if I fail, why should I fail publicly? ;) So, in accordance with my generation, I shall make no commitment at all(chuckle, chuckle). Take that!

Enjoy reading... as I make an honest attempt to enjoy blogging.
Take care!
